NYC Restaurant Review - Doughnut Plant

Hi Foodies! Yesterday I went to the Doughnut Plant owned by Mark Israel. The doughnuts were incredible!

Doughnut Plant             379 Grand Street, New York, NY, 10002

(January 2012)

The best doughnuts can only be found at Doughnut Plant. This little shop produces big and unique flavors. The doughnuts I tried were Creme Brulee, Peanut Butter and Blackberry Jam, Pistachio, and Blackout. My favorite was the Creme Brulee doughnut. It was a yeast doughnut and had a crunchy, burnt sugar top, filled with a vanilla bean cream. It was absolutely perfect. The Peanut Butter and Blackberry Jam doughnut was another standout, with homemade peanut butter and homemade jam. This was a yeast doughnut that was very moist. You could taste the freshness in every aspect. The Pistachio doughnut was a cake doughnut dipped in a pistachio glaze. It is an outstanding doughnut. The Blackout doughnut was great. It was a chocolate cake doughnut with chocolate running through it and a chocolate crumble topping. This doughnut was rich and scrumptious. The Doughnut Plant changes their menu seasonally, with exciting and new flavors rotating. This is a place that cannot be missed.

The Doughnut Plant is a must try if you are in the area and they recently opened a new location at the Chelsea Hotel. Check back soon for more restaurant reviews in New York City.
